Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Attendees
Each registered Portland Gathering attendee will receive unique login credentials to enter our virtual Gathering space at PortlandGathering.org. Inside this space, you’ll be able to browse all of the scheduled sessions, access “join” links for the scheduled sessions, as well as find any handouts or materials that are shared for each session.
We’ll also have some content for you to explore and contribute to in your own time, such as our virtual Introductions page and our virtual Gallery Walk. More information about this content will be available when you login to our virtual Gathering space.
We will be streaming using the Zoom online meeting platform. Presenters will share their cameras and screen contents during most sessions. To learn more about participating in a Zoom meeting, check out this help article.
We encourage all attendees and presenters to connect using a device with a camera and a microphone or headset.
During most large group sessions, participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting.
We plan to record most sessions unless specifically requested not to by the facilitator. If we do not plan to record a session, it will be clearly marked as “Live Event Only” on the session schedule.
Our plan is to make recordings and handouts available until at least January 31, 2021. If access will need to be changed or relocated after that point, we will notify registered attendees by email.
Making connections and networking with others, both formally and informally, has always been an important part of the Portland Gathering experience. We’ve got a workgroup of volunteers thinking through creative ways to engage with others during this event.
We’ll have a message board inside the virtual Gathering where you can post messages to others or even offer to host your own connection session outside of the regularly published Gathering schedule.
Learning Marketplaces are an important tradition of Gatherings of The Learning Community for Person Centered Practices. LMP sessions are community-created and community led. Each LMP session on our schedule will consist of up to three concurrent online sessions, hosted by a volunteer who is interested in connecting with others about a specific topic.
A call will go out to all attendees inviting them to sign-up to host a LMP conversation prior to the start of the Gathering. Sign-up submissions will be reviewed by a volunteer workgroup and scheduled into available time slots on a first-come, first-served basis.
Attendees will be able to review all of the planned LMP sessions and decide which they are interested in attending. Just like our other sessions, LMP sessions will be recorded and any handouts or materials will be made available for later viewing unless requested not to by the session host.
When logging into the virtual Gathering, attendees will see a list of daily announcements. We encourage all attendees to watch the announcements for any last-minute schedule changes or updates.
There is a Submit Feedback button at the bottom of every page inside the virtual Gathering. Feedback you share about the virtual experience will be shared with The Arc Oregon team who coordinates this event and provides technical support. Your feedback about content or the overall experience will be forwarded to members of the Portland Gathering Agenda Committee and TLCPCP representatives.
At the conclusion of the virtual Gathering, all attendees will receive an email inviting them to complete a brief survey about your experience in the virtual Gathering.
